Our Story
We started building bass fishing rods a few years ago due to the fact we could not find a store-bought rod that was sensitive and comfortable to use all day. After many experimental builds, we came up with a concept that worked. Our rods began with the best rod blanks for each application and are custom built one at a time using the finest components. We spiral wrap the guides to decrease the torque when fighting the fish. With over 50+ years of bass fishing and use of many different rod brands helped us in the development of our rods. The results are a rod that is extremely sensitive, light weight, and comfortable to use all day fishing.
Our signature "FEEL EVERY BITE" grips are one of the lightest and most sensitive rod grips on the market. We handcraft each grip through a proprietary process that increases sensitivity by transmitting the slightest vibration to your hand. Light weight, customizable, along with extremely sensitivity makes our “Feel Every Bite” grips one of the best on the market. Knowing that a custom-made rod is built to fit you, we also carry traditional grips, and many other customizing options are available. Pine State Custom Rods are all built with upscale rod blanks and rod components. Each rod is custom built one at a time.

“Spiral Wrapped Rods”
Spiral Wrapped Rods is a conventional casting rod whose guides start out on top of the rod and then rotate around the rod leaving the final guides on the bottom. Spiral wrapping or sometimes called “Acid Wrapped” was originated on the West Coast for surf and boat rods to reduce the twisting of the rod went fighting large ocean fish. Spiral wrapped rods have been around since the 1920s. This guide placement reduces torque allowing you to fight fish on lighter tackle with less fatigue. This concept was adopted for freshwater rods which has resulted in a more comfortable, sensitive, and balanced fishing rod. As an added benefit, spiral wrapping will increase your casting distance.
Every rod blank contains a spine which is the overlapping of the rod building materials during the manufacturing process. The spine or seam also contributes to rod twisting if not correctly aligned. Locating the spine and building the rod with the correct spine alinement along with the spiral wrapping takes out the sideways torque when fighting a fish. This produces a better handling rod which makes a more comfortable fishing experience. The majority of large rod manufacturers don’t take the time to find the spine and are not willing to use the spiral wrapping method.
Almost all spiral wrapped rods are produced by local small rod builders.
